That isn't their normal texture. Looks like you got some from a batch that had production issues. One reviewer said it was like pieces of hardened candy bits inside. Most people seem to like them and didn't have that issue.

My kids liked them last time this was posted on SD recently. No artificial coloring or HFCS, though it still uses corn syrup. Will be buying again.
