Fyi, this is SJTW. Thermoplastic is a pita when temps are cold.

It's probably not the wire, but the plug ends that are the weak link here.

Even the MSRP price for a 10 gauge 50 footer seems pretty cheap

Be nice for voltage drop for a generator extension.
Or nice to run my table saw miter saw
So I don't have to keep unplugging and switching cords they won't be run at same time. The start up draw on those is pretty significant

I would agree. The plugs are the limiter here, a 10 guage cord will have lower losses and better voltage at the end of the cord. The odd thing is that the 20A version uses (pretty much) the same contacts but rotates one of the pins to signify it is 20A rated. The 20A pins are a bit more robust but you will find some 15A cords with better plugs than cheaper 20A cords.

No, these aren't construction site, daily use quality, but this is a bargain for a UL listed cord. I paid $50 for a similar quality cord nearly 20 years ago.

Cheap price to give the rabbits something to chew on instead of your good quality Southwire cords

Yup. You want SJEOW or SOOW for cold weather, but they cost more.

Wouldn't surprise me if there's more tin-to-copper in future wiring - especially when the US is so anti-mining for EV, solar, etc., goals. Virtually all of EV battery tech is Chinese.
Only Anti-everything for American. Pushing all manufacturing to China by making it impossible to do in America. Force dependent. If I remember correctly, Chinese can manufacture here in America but not American in America.

I needed to hook an RV up at a house the 30 Amp style plug, the RV had 10AWG factory, so I figured I would stick with that.

I went to HomeDepot - they wanted nearly $300 for ~50 ft of 10 AWG 3 conductor cable. I said WTF? LOL, NO!

I went to Harbor Freight and got what I think is this same exact cord, cut the ends off, put the ends I needed on, it's been running that RV just fine every since.

I paid ~$70 in early December for it, this is a good deal.

If you have 30a load the 10ga wire is only good for about 15ft.
