Lemme know how you like it. I won't buy one w/o the center screw (dealbreaker as they say) - but this recessed back is also becoming a deal breaker for me, as well.

It means that it should be able to fit over the wall plate and still be flush to the wall. Typically, with these types of outlet expanders you have to remove the wall plate in order for it to be flush (or close to flush) to the wall.

Yes, but they don't have the recessed back. I posted this because it has 4 usb ports, surge protected 5 outlets, the important center mounting screw AND the recessed back that allows it to fit flush to the wall even w/ your outlet cover in place. So, can you find a multi-outlet with a night light AND a recessed flush-fitting back at this price? If so, then please by all means provide a link.

if you get one that is not recessed, you can take the plate cover off, adjust the outlet in (breaker off suggested) and use this one as the cover. I did and it looks pretty flush.

I don't disagree with you, however, the plate covers are fit very tight and are made of very fire-resistant plastic. I'd prefer to use a plate cover AND the multi-outlet, if that's an option. I prefer not to take the plate covers off if I do not have to. So, yes, your idea is one solution for sure... but many people (like me) prefer not to remove those fire-resistant plate covers.

Well, the ones that aren't flush fitting, just don't look like a custom fit. The recessed back like this one in the OP, fits over your existing (standard, non-Decora) outlet cover and still looks like a custom fit.
