Decent deal considering Prime delivery. $800 on Prusa site, then shipping, then customs, and I would say that using Amazon is better, but there is sales tax. This is the kit so you have to build it...

If someone really wants an i3 linear rod bed slinger... take a look at the Sovol SV06. Basically the exact same machine (yes anyone can copy mk3) for about $200. But if you really want to spend $900, there are much better machines on the market these days.

What specifically about the Bambu is better? It's cheaper and doesn't require assembly, but would it be considered an upgrade from the prusa for any substantial reason?
It's basically better in every way, except being closed source. It prints way faster, up to 500mm/s acceleration up to 20,000mm/s^2. Automatic flow calibration and lidar for first layer inspect and leveling is great on the X1 series too. Basically the software does everything for you, all you do is plug it in and you get perfect prints, and it's very fast.

I have a hard time believing that anyone with a cursory understanding of 3D Printing would honestly ask that question

At this point it's a hard sell to grab a Prusa MK3S+ versus, say, a Bambu P1P at $699. Prusa needs to make a leap forward from this (relatively) ancient design to compete going forward.
Fully agree, I came here to say the same thing.

This…. With the BambuLab P1P, there's no reason to ever spend this kind of money of a Prusa. Unless you want to tinker, if that's your thing, by all means get a Prusa. If you just want to print and have the printer do the rest, out of the box, go BambuLab.

I recently picked up an X1C/AMS combo, started looking at the P1P and convinced myself all the way up 😂. All I can say is wow! It's a fantastic printer. I've literally printed more in the few weeks I've had it, than I did in years with my old CR10S. I got so tired of tinkering and getting prints to be happy that I just stopped using it a few years ago. Did the whole Pi with Octoprint and a camera, upgraded main board, auto leveling, silenced the steppers, Noctua fans and many other things… you name it, I upgraded it.

The AMS has been flawless as well… multicolor printing is hilariously easy.

It's a decent printer, but very dated at this point. There are quite a few better options at this price point now, including a Voron or a Bambu (personally I'd go with the Voron. You have to put it together, but it's all open source with a big community around it).

Yikes... This almost feels like a "religion" argument. Why the hate for prusa? I see prusa more as Lego, and the newcomers as Mega, bluebrixx, cobi, etc. It doesn't bother me which cheaper knockoff you prefer to buy.

Nearly $900 for a bed slinger and no enclosure is a rip off in 2023.

I say no to Bambu from the beginning and now my answer stay the same.
