Edit: To add to this, I have some army surplus thermal underwear (both top and bottom). It's made out of polypropylene. It's literally what infantry would wear under everything if they were hypothetically fighting in Siberia. That's what the US Army decided was the most heat trapping material. And same with Under Armour's very famous heatgear... it's all polyester because it traps heat.
This exactly. The only reason to ever use polyester is to wear for a temporary gym/workout session or something similar. Wearing for long periods of time is just ridiculous and will start to gather all sorts of nasty scents.
Imagine why good quality, breathable fabrics cost much more than cheap junk polyester…Wool, Linen, Cotton, even Silk or Cashmere are some fabrics that are known for their durability/breathability and high levels of comfort.
Wearing plastic on your body is just dumb and feeds into this cycle of enriching the cashgrabs by these pitiful corporations that gloat about "recycled" components as if it's something to be proud of (instead of telling you the real truth of their massive cost savings padding their bottom line).

Polyester = bad smell for me. Both underwear and t-shirts
Absolutely a better alternative. Go for those instead.

Quite the opposite for me. Less chaffing because it's quite snug
