Erythritol was in the news very recently. Something about an increased risk of blood clots.
That study was a bit underwhelming. The sample size was 8 and it included folks that were not in the greatest shape to begin with. Encourage folks to check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yncn0o-OhAU
They've shown a correlation, but they can't say that erythritol causes these clots. They basically say that it should be looked into more. I found the actual study (just the abstract) and it states they used "untargeted metabolomics studies in patients undergoing cardiac risk assessment" at first and later "cohorts of stable patients undergoing elective cardiac evaluation." Other researchers say that "most of your study subjects either had cardiovascular disease or had risk factors for cardiovascular disease might have skewed some of the numbers." Furthermore, the abstract says they measured "erythritol ingestion in healthy volunteers (n = 8)" Dude, a sample size of 8 people isn't going to say anything, so I don't get that. The other groups had about 1-2k people each. However, people with heart or health problems like diabetes might choose to switch to artificial sweeteners, and these people are at the highest risk of a cardiovascular event.
"Our findings reveal that erythritol is both associated with incident MACE risk and fosters enhanced thrombosis. Studies assessing the long-term safety of erythritol are warranted." I say that if it works for you to lose weight or manage your blood sugar, use it in moderation. This information is useful though because it could be used in a patient's treatment plan.

Note there's a lot of pea protein in this and it shows in the gritty texture and flavor as well. I tried it in a smoothie and it was awful. Nothing like a ready to drink orgain.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the superfoods version? I have to watch out which version it is because I don't like this version either and they look almost identical.

Your math is suspect.
$26.99 - 20% off coupon - 15% S/S discount = $17.54

That might have been the one I tried now that you mention it, but what I didn't like was the pea protein flavor and texture. It matched a smoothie I made with plain pea protein for taste

I like the gritty texture a lot. I mix with tap water and nothing else mixes as well in just a coffee mug. I buy mine from Costco that is often on sale and likely cheaper. I haven't done the math recently.

How do you know the difference? Doesn't this say Superfoods on the front? Is this the same one they sell at Costco? Stupid question, but is there a big difference between whey protein and plant protein?

I've only tried Vega vanilla plant based protein and it had a terrible chemical smell, like rotten grass. I wonder how this compares. I mainly use quest whey- casein blend for waffles, mugcakes, protein ice cream. But currently still a bit expensive
