You can not have more than 1 Sapphire card at the same time, and you can not get a new Sapphire signup bonus if you received one on any Sapphire card in the last 48 months.
For anyone debating on whether to go for this, know that the all time high is 100k bonus points, making this a very lucrative opportunity.
You can- I've seen YMMV reports about how many days you need to wait between cancelling and new application though.
Also things to keep in mind:
Use any credits you might have on existing card you haven't used yet.
Insure you move your UR points to a different card before closing old one.

Got my first big boy card (CSR) in early 2018 with the shitty 50k signup bonus cause I didn't know any better. Wasn't eligible for the CSP 100k bonus 3 years later cause they raised the waiting period to 48 months.
Finally eligible now, probably going to bite. I'd be less salty with a 100k+ SUB, but don't know when that will ever happen again and I need to pay my taxes.
silly question but if you do spend the $4k and get the points, after you cancel the card, are the points still useable, or no?
No.
But there's no reason to do this.
You can downgrade it to a free chase UR card and keep the points.
(You can also transfer them to a free chase UR card you already have at any time)
That said- the points lose a lot of value for travel purposes if you no longer hold a paid chase card, so I can't think of much reason to still HAVE a ton of points by then.
Got the card last month and at that time they had only 60, 000 bonus points. Will I be able to get the additional points?
Will they honor the additional points on/after 19th?
high fee, but you get $300 credit on any travel, plus $180/yr in monthly instacart credits and a free instacart+ membership ($99 normally) and (effectively) $20/yr in Global Entry credits.
Plus a priority pass membership that includes airport restaurants, and a higher point value on travel spend (also higher point value in the portal but that's often not the best way to spend points anyway).
So other than the signup bonus being lower it's a net more profitable card above its annual fee than CSP is assuming you can get value from the IC credits...
For the travel credits, it includes a lot of things you might not think, including tolls, parking and taxis. I was surprised when I started seeing those credits show up, but it's a nice perk for those that may not be flying or staying in hotels every year. I travel enough to where I'll use that $300 in the first month, but for others that don't it's a nice perk.
And good point about the airport restaurant credit with PP. I just learned that my AMEX Platinum does NOT include that. I was flying out of Denver which doesn't have a PP lounge at this time, but there was a restaurant that offered the credit. But again, that didn't help me. I got my 150k points and I'm going to close my Plat account and go back to CSR. Hoping the sign up bonus goes back up though.
Would making a payment towards student loans be considered an elligible transaction for this bonus? 4000 in 3 months seems like a bit much for m even if I try.

Literally any spend counts, Amex doesn't care what you spend the $ on.

Nope, traditionally Amex does not match higher offers that come out later
That, combined with Amex bonuses being once per lifetime per card, means you need to research what are typically the higher bonus offerings for a given card from them before applying and it's not near historical highs you're always better off waiting.
what kind of credits? I know Reserve has them, but what about preferred?
CSP has a $50 hotel credit (must book through Chase Travel portal) and has a $15 per quarter instacart credit (plus 6 months of free instacart plus if you haven't already used it)

I already have the freedom and have for like a decade now.
You can have a second freedom... which also gets you a second $1500 5x cap for each quarter.

maybe the freedom unlimited would be a better option?
If i change cards it will won't hurt my credit card length history right? That's the whole idea?
