Thanks, was wondering when the deal was going to come back. Gonna test if it really is the best headphones for gaming.
Best for gaming on the OG Gameboy.

Without amps, this is not better than $200 headphones. So, if buying this, budget to also invest in a high quality amp.
Underrated comment.

High quality delivery will be what make this or any other high-end headphone shine. Without that, you'll hit whatever cap your hardware limits you to.

This or a dedicated Dolby Atmos system. Decisions.....Decisions lol I'll always have lifelong regrets if I chose one or the other.
A proper atmos receiver will cost you more than that…

The industry standard is Sony MDR-V6. I save myself hundreds and thousands of dollars by using those and forgetting about shopping for other headphones.

Headphones for $1200? I can't see a situation where I would ever consider that. I'll pass
This isn't for you. In the age of the internet not everyone's voice needs to be heard. Keep scrolling.

This is for a particularly niche crowd that is trying to save money just like the rest of the slick deals users. It's a decent enough deal for those who are focused on the hobby.

I don't understand how it can even be over $1500.... like if I listen to 80s rock, would I be able to hear bunch of groupies moaning in the back?

Are you the kind of person who also doesn't understand the difference between a $200 TV and a $1500 TV? Or maybe even PC Monitors. Just like displays, there are different levels of resolution to the audio (visual for TV), detail retrieval, sound stage, etc... (TV/Monitor Resolution, color accuracy, response time etc...).

On most forums this is the best headphones you can get for fps games like counter strike with it's open back soundstage. If you were professional fps player these would be the best you can get on the market. I have a poor man's version in form of akg k712 pro lmao I can't drop a grand wish I could would have to sell some skins for them if I really wanted

I've had these for nearly 6 years. Paid $1675 back then. I use them primarily with a Schiit Jotunheim Amp/DAC. Use them every day and no regrets at all about the cost. They are amazing. I hear things in music I never heard before with these. The separation and detail in instruments is fantastic. They're worth every penny if you value quality sound. BTW, using them with the balanced cable really opens them up.

And to the ones asking about headphone specifications... specs give you an idea of what they can do, but it gives no representation of what they sound like.
What EQ settings are you using for games with these HD800S? And what EQ setting are you using for music, movies, and other content?

Will the amps help with the quality of the music at lower volumes?

If you are using this primarily for FPS games where positional audio is important (CS GO/Valorant), what is the best amp/dac or whatever to get with this?

I just got these headphones and am not sure what else I need. It's clearly not a plug and play into my PC. It doesn't even come with a 3.5mm adapter.

They sell cheap adapters on Amazon.

That said, Schiit Asgard/Bifrost combo would work. I used to drive my HD650 with the prior versions of them over 15 years ago.

Yes, there's a distinction between loudness and being properly driven. You can plug them into an iPhone via the adapter dongle crank up the volume to max and it'll be acceptable loudness for sure but they won't have the full range of sound/presentation because there's not enough power.

Can't tell the difference between beats pro, studio, sony xm4s, or ad700x. Only reason i have all and didnt stick with beats was because everyone says they sound different. Cant tell the difference between bluetooth and wired either. All quite far from $1200 so I wonder if I could tell with these
You need to provide more info about your other equipment to explain why you can't hear differences between headphones. I assume your hearing is normal. I have a handful of headphones and while some have similarities, they all sound different.
