That thing is thick. Is it a full 3 slot card?

Any thing above mid tier, you could just assume you will need 4 slots of space because that's what you'll need to allocate for it. 2.5 to 3 for the card itself, then another open slot for air flow for the fans. It's one of those trends I'm not a huge fan of.

Is there a reason this isn't in the category of computer parts -> video cards? There was one yesterday that a person failed to put in the correct category as well, so maybe it's a video card thing. Why post deals if you can't even put them in the correct category so people can find them?

it is funny that they dont redesign the slots so that you can actually use them with a modern video card.

When I posted in the app from my phone, that wasn't presented as an option.

it is not full 3 slot card (i mean.. it will occupy almost 3 slots). but it is one of the thinner 6800 out there, i have it in my H1 version 1 case.

but i also only paid like 520 dollar last year... as to why this is considered good deal at 570 is beyond me.

The 6800XT should be below $500 by now but the bad GPU market has kept their prices elevated. With both major players keeping inventory tight as well as high prices on the new generation, you'll get a situation where 2 yr old last generation cards still demand these higher prices. AMD and Nvidia not releasing the lower tier of the new generation cards yet also doesn't help. Not that it matters as the new generation lower tiered cards will probably be overpriced when they do come out.

I wouldn't be surprised if these cards actually started going up again. I have the XFX version and the current price is definitely higher.

Then they will just sell less. It's as plain as that.
Or some economics major at Nvidia/Amd thinks otherwise.

I'll run my 1070 into the ground before I pay these prices. These companies can get bent.

They just don't care, both reduced inventory to compensate for the lower demand in order to keep prices higher. Everyone can see that the market isn't what it was when the miners were pouring money into buying cards but those 2 just haven't cared. Nvidia is hell bent on charging as much as they can for their high end and putting as little effort into the lower tiers. None of their mid tier or lower cards are worth buying. AMD hasn't bothered to capitalize on that, they don't care about growing their market share. AMD released their top tier new generation with inflated prices, those prices are starting to correct itself now.

It could be China's government controlling it all. EV makers are trying to acquire as much lithium and cobalt as much as they can. Idk if GPUs need these things but if their government set a policy like Nintendo is doing to keep prices up well, not much consumers can do there.

Nvidia and AMD are both Chinese companies right? Hopefully US based Intel will soon start producing cards worth the competition.

I think they're both US multinational companies. They both have Taiwanese CEOs though, who both happen to be related to each other in some way. They're both publicly traded companies so they have an obligation to the shareholders to make a profit. It's less the Chinese government pushing them and more their shareholders are forcing their hand.
