This is much different then a standard set.. It's from a boutique label that went above and beyond with special features/different cuts/audio choices etc. If none of that matters to you then of course this is way overpriced since you can get just the standard set with most of it for 20-30. 80 for this entire set is a very solid price if the above does matter though imo.. This hasn't "kept dropping in price" like the other posted said either as the sale price has been $80 for a couple years now (It's how much I paid last year).

Much like the Halloween franchise, I highly doubt we'll see a full set like this all in one box in 4k. Also, the first movie in this set was butchered in 4k so not a good start at all.

My guess is at least the first 4 will eventually get a boutique label treatment in 4k (likely Shout) and they will make much more definitive versions which in turn will also be more expensive so much like this threads set you will have to make the decision of buying the mediocre/subpar versions for dirt cheap or spend more to get the much improved versions.

Not trying to come off as snobbish but there's a clear reason why one version is more expensive. If those reasons don't matter to you then there is always the significantly cheaper option to buy or even just the digital copies which go on sale as well.
Doubtful. There are only 4K masters for the first four movies I believe. This complete set likely won't be repeated on UHD for a number of reasons. We'll likely get individual studios reissue the earlier films.

About the only thing which could change this is if there was a new F13 movie, but that doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon.

These are on pretty much every Friday the 13th. Seems steep for what should be $50 or less.

I thought the 2009 version was pretty good. It brought in about 93 million - more than most of the others in the series, and it only cost 15 million to make.

Why in the world didn't this one get a sequel, and why has it been so long since one was made?

Ongoing court battle to decide who owns the rights has been going on for a long time, caused the end of friday the 13th sequels and the video game. When movies hit 35yrs old it can have the copyrights handed back over to the original writer, and now alot of movies are coming into that range.

Fantastic box art.

Amazing story about the court battle. It sounds like essentially there won't be another movie unless/until the original writer and the studio get together and hammer out some sort of revenue sharing agreement. Nothing seems to be happening right now, which is a shame.
