It went from being a fun thing to buy to just pure regret.

I was so scared this was going to happen to me when I bought a Series S with Ms store gift cards. There's a ton of horror stories like this on reddit. So I removed my paypal acct so there would be no issues and tried purchasing with my gift card balance but the system kept giving me an error. Talked to chat and they were able to submit the order for me. Turns out you need a payment method for taxes as you can't use gift cards to pay tax.

Stores near me told me the discount will only come off(automatically in computer) if the gift card is purchased separately from anything else and 1 at a time. I bought 3 and had to do 3 transactions. YMMV but they said the computer has a limit of 1 discounted gift card per transaction.

Insane lol. I just checked the DG near my job and they would only sell gift cards cash only, no debit. At that point I figured the extra $5 wasn't worth the hassle of going to get cash/paying ATM fees from some bank that wasn't my own, so I went back to the office and ordered a $100 card for $90 from Costco instead.

Oh yeah, like how K-Mart used to make me feel.

With its general cheapness, white trashiness, and yellow signage, Dollar General strikes me as the Waffle House of retail. I'm surprised there aren't more fist fights.
