My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Pay the $100 initially and call Xfinity customer service and just tell it's not your fault the house isn't wired or some small talk. Usually you should get the $100 refunded.
The home is wired and is currently getting service, yet when I attempt to re-sign up, there's a mandatory pro install charge.

I did the similar thing, so when I log in now, I can see two accounts. The weird thing is that I got an email yesterday saying my current service will be cancelled today, and then I got another email today saying my current service will be cancelled two weeks later. I haven't activated my new account yet because I'm waiting for the xFi modem (I don't have my own modem).
This also happened to me. Signed up yesterday, immediately got the cancellation notice stating 3/14. Then overnight I woke to the second email stating cancellation on 3/29/23.

I signed up for service using my existing xfinity account. Yesterday both service account IDs were showing up under my account. I activated my modem under my new account this morning and my old account has disappeared from the website.

Hoping this all goes OK.

Just installed the gateway and now I'm getting 78 Mbps max, what gives? This is supposed to be 200 mbps. I was getting around 250 mbps yesterday with the old plan.

I'm using the same wireless router also, not the wifi from the gateway.

I had 25mbps a year ago, they upped it to 50, then a few months later to 75. Had to power cycle my router to access new speeds. Now I power cycle my router regularly.
Can you share how you power cycle your router?

Make sure you have the same exact address as your current service. Including apt or unit or whatever.

Floor 2 isn't unit b, so until I fixed if it would demand a mandatory install. And chat wouldn't waive it.

I was kind of in the same boat where I had two accounts showing up in my login and they were both active today even though the old one was supposed to be terminated 12am this morning. My other issue was also that my Xfinity Mobile was still with the old account so called Xfinity Mobile first and had them link the phone lines to the new account. Then called Xfinity Internet folks to make sure the old Internet account was cancelled. The agent indicated that the old account was scheduled to be cancelled on March 29 to give me enough time to return any equipment I have from the old account and will be billed until that date if billing is not stopped. I promptly asked him to stop the billing on old account effective yesterday's date when my new account was created and activated. He did it and I now have 10 days to return the equipment and I won't be billed for these 10 days. I believe he said the old account will be deleted/inactive after 10 days.

You may want to call and ask them to stop billing effective whenever you activate the new account.

On 19.99 plan with 12 month contract; tried to signup and it created a new account# under same profile. They are shipping the self install kit.

Chatted and tried to fix this; was told the new account is cancelled and old account upgraded

but woke up today to no internet.

The system automatically assumed the old account had to be disconnected; chatted again/power cycle modem seems to have fixed the issue.

not confident about xfinity. They might even send me an etf bill.

Thanks for the detailed steps. I did exactly this but one change being I added my new account to the existing account login. As soon as I signed up, I saw both account numbers under my login and also received an email stating that the old account will be cancelled midnight today. One perk of using the existing login was that I am still a PLATINUM rewards member from being an Xfinity customer for 9 years and they don't treat me as a new member for rewards purposes. I waited until midnight to reset my modem and activate the new account thru Xfinity app. Was up and running in less than 10 minutes or so.

I am so glad it worked as mine was a little complicated situation. I had Xfinity Internet with Basic TV (10 channels) for eight years as I was told over the years by agents that bundle would be cheaper compared to Internet alone. I was paying $75 for 100 Mbps and 10 TV channels. A few months ago they increased speed to 200 Mbps and increased the bill to $85. I tried to signup for this deal yesterday but couldn't as I was on a bundle deal. Called the customer service yesterday and was offered a Internet only 400 Mbps plan for $77 with 12 month contract which I signed up for. This allowed me to go into my account today and do the steps you listed above to downgrade to 200 Mbps for $25. I don't need 400 Mbps.
Other complication was that I was signed up for Xfinity Mobile $12/GB data plan. Since the old Internet account was tied to the Xfinity Mobile plan, I couldn't log into the Xfinity Mobile app as soon as the old Internet account was cancelled. After a 10 minute call late night, the agent was able to connect my Xfinity Mobile account (was given a new account number) to the new Internet account and assured me that I will see all my info on Xfinity Mobile by 7 am and all my pricing will remain the same as before. Hopefully this works and will be a guide to others like me who have Xfinity Mobile connected to the Xfinity Internet.

I just went to the same place where you can choose new plans. I had the old Blast plan name and the new name they have for it now is Superfast or something like that but it was the same 800mbps speed. Maybe that's how i got it.
I tried that - can get it down $10 IF I give them bank account info - not happening....will check Verizon and T Mobile home (I think)..

I had 1 month left on my 2 yr contract, which expires 4/29, but I don't care paying $10 ETF.
can change to non contract plan at any time which removes the ETF then cancel.

No it does not show pending. Where exactly do you see it? Not sure if it is related but I was going to use my own router and modem.

I chatted up retentions and asked them to give me the deal or lose a 20-year customer. They canceled my 1-year contract, charged me a $50 ETF, and gave me the new plan. I'll be saving $55 a month.

Shouldn't of charged you ETF if changed plans. That's only for when you disconnect all services under contract.

Correct. I had 5 months left on a 12-month term. I figured there was no way I'd be changing plans within a year, but it turns out I was wrong. Smilie

The savings are well worth the ETF.
