My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

This must be your first day at slickdeals. Welcome.
How did you avoid the early cancellation fee for cancelling one account and then using another?

Could you please walk me through the steps like I'm 5? Also, would I need to tweak the address in any way to make it different from the first account?
No need. Get the MAC number from the back of the modem and call xfinity and tell them you're switching your account and want to reuse your modem. They will unlink from the old account and then link to the new one. Took me 20 minutes.

How many days or weeks is the downtime when you swap names & accounts? Trying to figure out how long I'll be without internet since the kids have school.
I am living alone. I am an existing xfinity internet customer.
I just opened another account using my name, email, mobile number. This account is now linked to existing comcast id. Once activated new account, old account get cancelled automatically. Returned the device belonged to previous account. I left the detailed steps I did in somewhere comment

Are there any early termination charges when using a different address but same phone number and name?

I didn't, but my ETF was only $8 since I was on my last month. I've read that others called/chatted/Reddited to have their current plan swapped to this one for no charge.

I didn't even need to have them release my MAC address this time. Just a power cycle and entered my MAC on the install.

It has been many years since I have had Comcast/Xfinity service at my house and the cable running to house has been damaged. Does anyone know how much they will charge to run a new cable to the house?

Last time they charged me one time installation fee for $100.

I keep losing internet connection, everyday it stops working, called Xfinity, it works for a day and then I get a no data connection message on my wifi. I wonder if it's a faulty gateway. It's so frustrating, I need reliable service.

It could be a problem with Xfinity's infrastructure in your area. Or they might be screwing with you lol

just my $00.02 , first, Thanks OP and Slickdeals for this. ok, so, my 3 post I think. I was able to open new account in wifes name, after nearly 20 years and no love for established customer. got the Huge black modem. so, I plugged it in, Finally, had to go over to the neighbors house, use His wifi, used the app, activated new account, came home, bingo.... so, testing my pc, slow speeds... so, tested using phones and tablets, etc, Everything _except my pc, was getting nearly 100 Mbps. went hunting online/youtube... followed some instructions with flushdns and windsock reset...reboot, nothing really... so, figger, its my old little tablet/pc... so, I ordered a USB 3 to Ethernet adpt 110/100/1000 Should solve problem, right? ... later last nite, PC, started Fast speeds, adpt hasn't come yet... SO... I have NO idea, if I did it, or They did it, or What... for Years, I was paying for 100Mpbs, and, Fastest ever was maybe 50... usually 40's or Less... And, they kept raising my monthly... now, were I live, we have NO other internet options, cellphones don't even work here, so, am I Happy? for now, yes. I Still have to discontinue old service, AND, I had 2 comcast cell phones on a Very cheap plan befor... NOT sure, if I can Move them, or not... I will continue Readying this thread. SO, Thanks to Slickdeals, I have...Lower price, Higher speeds, and Unlimited data (yes, I was nicked a few times for overage befor)
thanks for reading, IF I can help, just ask, honestly, I'm not even really sure HOW to respond to a msg here...

ok, tried to disconnect with phone app... ALL I could find was 'Moving... so, went to pc, searched to disconnect, followed, Think I managed, we'll see. Just ANOTHER reason for government to regulate this horrible company... I am afraid to even Try to move my comcast phones over, I think I'll just buy a couple Trac phones instead... good luck everybody!
