You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Tried different browsers and devices, all came up with same error. Hence chatted with agent and they said need to provide the SSN or Credit Card to approve the new account on my spouse name, as I already have Xfinity on my name at same address. Gave the CC and they created the account without issue and waiting for it to get shipped, later will cancel the current plan. Hope it helps others facing same issue as mine.

Can people confirm that their Xfinity Rewards was unaffected after the switch? I just activated the new service, but my Rewards page is now blank.

A "gateway" is just a fancy...garbage way in my opinion...of saying modem and router combination device. Bottom line: If you want the unlimited data for the $10 price tag (which is included with xFi Complete as they call it) you HAVE to use their "gateway". If you rather use your own modem and router it is $30/month for unlimited data.

What is it that they gain from making you use their gateway (which in my case comes at no extra charge) in order to get the promo discount you signed up for instead of using your own gear?

I went to the store to pickup the Modem and store rep told me that XB7 and XB8 is not compatible with 200mbps plan. She said she can still give me XB8 and i can try if that works. But i told her to give XB3 if that is compatible and now i am facing issues with the wifi network upstairs on the second floorFrown.
I will try to get the XB8 tomorrow.

It's just a line they feed people, they said the same with me. the XB8 is 100% compatible with the 200mbps service.

So I set up and activated my parent's gateway yesterday, linked all the devices on to the Wifi, and it was running fine at the 200/10 speeds when I left. This morning, the gateway was online, but all of the devices were not connected to Wifi and just now the gateway went completely offline. I scheduled an appointment for tomorrow, but just WTF.

Mine went from Diamond old account to Silver new account. Used same ID.

Try reactivating the gateway's MAC ID thru the Xfinity app, you can do it remotely.
