So it is a new norm that 9.2 receivers are going over $1k? Still remember seeing $300 ish ones before Covid
It's the norm. The days of $500 X3x00 series Denons on clearance at Fry's are over for a good while. Chip shortages, the AKM fire, and general greed have pushed receiver prices up and I don't see them coming back down for a few years.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. If you want preouts or 9.2/7.2.4+, you're looking at around 1K new or higher.

Oh how I miss Frys; all these damn Mcrocenter deals are rubbing it in my face. At least I got my RZ830 for half this price before the pandemic...

For home theater electronic stuff, there is no comparison to Fry's deal. Microcenter deals are nowhere close.

True, Fry's HT deals were crazy good. I am just jealous of the Microcenter PC parts deals.

I bought a NR7100 when RZ50 was out of stock in 2022, I couldn't get Dirac to work for a week. It turns out Onkyo didn't pay or didn't renew their license with Dirac(straight from their CS email). So the app couldnt reach the license server to authenticate. It's all fine now, just some weirdness with Onkyo.

Pretty much literally the only good thing about the company before it imploded. Not sure how they managed those prices, but damn... Even the usual tricks like a contract that doesn't allow Fry's to return any units to the vendor, even if defective, doesn't seem like it'd account for THAT steep a discount.

Most everything else about the company was shady AF... I worked there for a brief time, so saw a lot of it first hand. Normally I wouldn't buy anything from Fry's that I wouldn't be willing to eat the cost for, but their AVR deals were just so damn good.

I had the new Sony 5000 for 2 weeks and returned it. First unit had faulty calibration mic and the second unit was so buggy. 360MM adds an annoying hissing noise and make things sound artificial. Wasn't impressed and IMO its overhyped
Interesting, was this your first Sony AVR? I don't think Sony's sound signature is for everyone.

I don't think its about signature. I actually liked its 2 channel sound as it sounded more "musical" than my RZ50 and my 4800h. I just don't think 360SSM is ready for prime time and the whole receiver has another 3-6 months or so to mature and be stable and bug free

Too bad this doesn't support dual subs properly, otherwise it checks all of the boxes. The only thing it is missing for my setup is Dirac Live Bass Control Multi Subwoofer.

I am looking to upgrade my Denon x3600h, which has SubEQ HT. I need something newer with 4k 120hz inputs and VRR support.

Was looking for something to replace my older marantz sr5007. I have been searching all week. Never heard of dirac until i stumbled upon it. Seems to be loved by all and im shocked its free on this receiver.

I was looking at the marantz cinema 50 but I dont see much justifying the $1k extra plus $350 for dirac licensing.

Bought the onkyo from best buy with 4% CB and 10% in rewards back on my betbuy account/credit card.

Lets see how this new receiver sounds!

I hope to have a 7.2.4 setup. I have a monoprice 5 channel amp, can I do it with this rz50? Do I use 5 preouts for C L F RL RR?
