With SSD NVMe price falling like a rock, you can make a faster version for a cheaper price and more capacity.

There was the Intel 2Tb 3500 MBps SSD for $80. Add a $20 enclosure and you get a 2TB portable ssd

Would thus be good for a daily backup to replace my old spinning disk back-up? Or is SSD bad for incremental back-ups?

Just a reminder that these are hot garbage for APPLE M1 & M2 MacBook/Mac Mini etc users.

On a silicon Mac, these will never reach the advertised read and write speeds. They're ridiculously slower.

You'll need a Thunderbolt 3/4 Enclosure with an M2 SSD to get optimal read/write speeds when using an M1/M2 mac.

For reference, look on youtube and everyone has this issue. It's an M1/M2 Mac limitation. You can reference the speed test on this video:

Does it mean that the transfer speed cannot reach the advertised 1050MB/s if my Thinkpad doesn't have a Thunderbolt port?

The HP 1TB is $69.99 if you can live with the 420mb/s speed. Saves 10 more bucks but the Samsung is a better deal.

HP P500 1 TB Portable Solid State Drive - External - Black - USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Type C - 3 Year Warranty https://a.co/d/bFgWQTw

I can't wait for the day (reputable brand) 1tb and 2tb thumb drives can be had for 30 bucks.

Wouldn't that apply to any external drive when used with the Apple silicon Macs? Or is there something specific to these drives? Thanks Smilie

I like the ROG STRIX Arion. Maybe not the best or cheapest. But solid imo.
