I would describe it as a plum color. It is beautiful.

Unfortunately, these newer Apple leather cases are pretty thin on the actual leather. As a result the color actually fades over time instead of patina, revealing a black color underneath. It does this for all of the darker colors at least. I have personal experience with dark green and this dark cherry. Maybe others can chime in to confirm.

Have the California poppy case for the 12 Pro and it started to break down in a few months. The ones for the iPhone SE were better quality cases and developed a nice patina. I would pass on the new Apple leather cases.
