You could, but in-walls like these are intended for what's called an infinite baffle installation. This basically means (big simplification) that the speakers should be free floating - no cabinet, the wall cavity is the cabinet. Restricting the speakers to a shallow enclosure would mess with these, cutting out a lot of the low-end.

Cutting a hole in your drywall is a lot less work than building a box, if you already have the hassle of hiding speaker wire anyway. Any specific reason you don't want to?
RSL probably set a dealer alert and has their social media team comes in and post to and relevant post.

These are nice, but I still would go with the RSL Speaker version over the JBL. https://rslspeakers.com/w25e-in-wall-speaker/

Did you buy these speakers? Whenever these is jbl studio speakers, I see RSL comment. Are they good?

I too am curious as at the price it's basically buy 2 RSLs or 3 JBLs for the same money, which would make a difference if you're getting them in quantity.

This speaker has no enclosure so sound will bleed through the wall and possibly into other rooms nearby, so you'll want to keep that in mind. I'd recommend an enclosed In-wall/in-ceiling speaker.

As far as JBL vs RSL, both companies make good speakers. JBL's MSRP is usually way too high, but even their entry level speakers sound really good. Don't immediately dismiss them just because they are JBL.

I actually just ordered 3 RSL W25E's for my LCR in my 5.1 setup last week. I'm hoping to have them soon. If you read up on Audio Science Review, the guy (Amir) who does a lot of testing loved RSL's CG25, which is pretty similar to these. The other reason I'm going with the RSL is the built in 15 degree angle. That way you can get your left/right and center imaging to point towards the main listening position. It's not the ideal dolby 20-30 degrees, but it's a lot better that straight speakers. They'd also work well as left/right surrounds slightly behind the listener angled towards.

I saw this deal and was like "ooooh should I cancel my RSL and save some money?" But I think I'll stay the course.

Looks like this thing is about 2" deep. Instead of cutting a hole in my drywall, can i just build a box around this and just mount it. i want to replace my klipsch rear since they are about 8-10" deep and sitting on end table. need to get rid of the end table since my 3yr old is at the point where is climbing and jumping over anything he can get his hands on.

Roger Sound Labs are very good, but I prefer the Def Tech 6.5 Di LRC setup. they sound amazing. And for those who think JBL is not good...lol...true they do make some low end stuff, like this 2" deep...lol LRC setup...I dont know about you, buyt in my years being alive, I have owned and tested about 40-70 pairs of speakers, with my audio parental background, so neutral and dead sound is what the DEf Techs get me, and that is what you want. They are not cheap, but can sometimes find them for $350-500. If you dont look for flaws in sound, these will not scream flaws to most people, and you save a lot of cash. So do you.

I have SVS LCR. Had to do def tech in-walls bc they're relatively shallow and tweeters matched the svs setup. They're excellent for surround. But tbh, surround sound speakers aren't really a huge impact relative to LCR for home theater. also have RSL for Atmos. Excellent too. Ypao matches the timbre and it's a great setup. RSL dual speed woofers for subs.
