Can not buy anything worse than Dell quality but they are good at changing multiple motherboards in first year and then you need to put it in a garbage can . Wait a minute you can not even do that you have to recycle. Got two last year and both failed . One was fixed multiple times during warranty. Stay away

The XPS desktop I bought in 2006-7 timeframe was indeed standing out as an exceptional build. The two XPSs I bought after (last one in 2015) were significantly cheaper made. They still stood the test of time, but were not nearly as extensible or easy to work with/on. I've made a decision to build my own after the last one, which I haven't regretted yet.
I've never personally owned an XPS laptop, but we've had those assigned to people at work in two of companies I worked for. Those were a nightmare -- trackpad and keyboard were a particular area of concern.
Had one of these and had to return it. Fan ran, non stop when plugged in. Loud enough to be really annoying. My old XPS 13 ran silent. Got a Thinkpad X1 Nano which has been great.

Don't stay away. Opposite experience with me. I've never had a problem with any Dell laptop that I've ever owned except one time. The screen on my XPS died. I spent less than 10 minutes on the phone with a native English speaker and was told to send in the laptop. 3 days later I was offered a new replacement laptop which was SIGNIFICANTLY better specs and options.
I've also owned Lenovo and HP laptops and I can tell you they have ZERO customer service and I would never purchase those brands again.
That being said, opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.

Need to blame Intel who created the power hungry monster.

My experience has been different. I've been supplied Dell hardware by my employers over the past 15 years and haven't had a problem with any of them.
Dell business laptops are usually great. I bought an XPS 17 recently and had to sent it back twice to get the motherboard fixed. My friend had the same issue (same xps model). Maybe that was an issue with 2020-2021 model. But do check Reddit or other places to see how this model is from reliability perspective
