About this Item: - Portability meets power. We partnered with AMD to create Steam Deck's custom APU, optimized for handheld gaming. It is a Zen 2 + RDNA 2 powerhouse, delivering more than enough performance to run the latest AAA games in a very efficient power envelope.
- Your Steam Library, anywhere. Once you've logged into Steam Deck, your entire Steam Library shows up, just like any other PC. You'll also see the compatibility rating of each game, indicating the kind of experience you can expect when playing. You can dynamically filter any view in your library by compatibility rating if you're looking for specific sorts of experiences.
- Control with comfort. The Steam Deck was built for extended play sessions—whether you're using thumbsticks or trackpads—with full-size controls positioned perfectly within your reach. The rear of the device is sculpted to comfortably fit a wide range of hand sizes.

If you are somewhat tech savvy I recommend the 64GB model paired with a 512GB or 1TB micro SD card. You can always upgrade the internal SSD if necessary. The issue with the 64GB is shaders must be stored on internal drive, not SD card, so between the OS and shaders the drive fills up fast.
If you don't feel like messing with opening the deck up, go for the 256GB model paired with a 1TB micro SD card.
The 512GB model only worth it for anti glare screen if you feel like you'll be playing it often outside.
Some must have programs for deck:
Decky loader - plugin manager for themes, power tools, and much more
EmuDeck- old school games emulation
Steam Rom Manager - adds your emulation game to steam, categorized by system with full game box and cover art
I also highly recommended a 45w power bank, the decks biggest weakness is battery life, you'll want a battery pack for travel
Be aware not all games run out of the box. Some require tweaking or custom proton versions to run properly.
ProtonDB.com lists game compatibility for all games and is a great resource, it's also a plug-in for decky

How do better tables like Indiana Jones play? Is frame rate an issue?
Pinball FX recomends gtx 980 I think on a pc
Does this come close. Not a gamer, but have loved pinball since the 1979 KISS machine.
i think most emulators run well on it but whats the point. for me
-i dont like playing on handhelds, it's uncomfortable
-this is is not really portable anyway due to massive size and poor battery life
-i'm old. no need to play "games on the go" TBH
-most games that people actually want to play like destiny or overwatch dont play on it due to anti cheat incompatibility
-poor quality 720p screen, most games play lowest settings under 30 fps
for me my cheap chinese $115 retro hand held is much more compelling. it's small and plays the emulated 2d games i want.
not a good sign this is already seeing sales. valve is known for canceling their always-failed hardware.
I'd like to see a V2 with better battery, smaller size, better display. But then I suspect the price goes higher and you lose the allure in the first place.
I was going to build an arcade machine and use the duck to run it, even had the name "deckade"
I don't know where I'm going with this review. It's a great device, I'm just old and preoccupied with life.
64 GB eMMC (PCIe Gen 2 x1)
256 GB NVMe SSD (PCIe Gen 3 x4 or PCIe Gen 3 x2*)
do you know if it is the same slot with just 2 different cards? as in can i buy the 64GB with the eMMC and put a NVMe card in to replace it? It looks like it is PCIe wither way and should work. why are people not putting in 4TB cards?

Perfect for killing time if you are waiting around and truly does not add that much travel bulk. I usually throw mine in my travel duffel that I use as my personal bag. I have pre check so I've never had an issue with tsa, the first time I traveled with it the guy was curious what it was but wasn't an issue at all.
These are seriously awesome devices especially if you travel often
