I can't speak to this exact model, but I bought the i9 model that was posted on here a few days ago. There wasn't a single expansion slot on the board. All I needed was a single PCIe, I ended up returning it.
?????????

1TB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
1TB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 Solid State Drive
This is $200 lower than the previous deal.
Compared to the $1229 front page deal for the HP Envy at Amazon, this has:
64GB of ram vs 16GB
i7-12700K vs i9-12900
extra 1TB hardrive

The CPU speeds would be very similar [cpubenchmark.net] if the cooling and power are the standard limits. The i7 is a K version so its standard limit is 125W which is higher than the i9 non-K at 65w.

Looks like you can add a 120mm fan for better cooling according to HP [hp.com]. That link also shows that the Omen 25L case is similar to the Envy but has a glass side.

I was thinking of building my own desktop but this seems like it's not a terrible option.

Does anyone know if HP still uses their own proprietary connections on their motherboards or is this upgradable?

Ordered this one and was meaning to share here. I've resisted other deals, the specs and this being sold by Costco was got me to go ahead with the purchase.

man this or wait for a 13th generation i9 build???
Depends on how much you wanna pay. If your budget is around the price of this computer, then you might have to wait for the 14th gen to come out before the 13th gen goes on clearance.

This looks upgradable. Hp has the service manual online and video on how to replace parts on YouTube.

This is not a deal considering the Alienware deal that was posted a couple days ago. Same price but you get an rtx 3080.

3080 build is 50 more for slightly weaker cpu and less ram. Price difference between 3070 and 3080 is suppose to be around 200, so if you value gpu above every other component, sure the alienware is a better deal. Otherwise the value is identical.

Are they using the stock CPU cooler? Seems like this setup would trap a lot of heat, that would be my major concern.

Tbh, I'd rather build one myself. Might end up being cheaper
