I replaced them (I had 2) with the Denon 960 model. Flawless ever since. After going through the audio setup process (pinging sound from all the speakers a few times with my sub and 5 speakers attached) the sound is flawless. Even better, I paid $249 at Costco. I think the sub sound is better with the 960 vs. the Yamaha.
I've not tried this particular Onkyo model in comparison. However, it's a competitor to the above Yamaha and Denon models in similar price point; I would expect very similar performance.
The benefit of buying at Costco is easy returns; if there's an issue, one just returns it, gets the money spent back, and can then buy something else (or not, as they desire).

So now I don't know what to do. Seems like these discounted AVs from costco are mostly crap. We get what we pay for???
