For the most part, yes. All the specs are better, except maybe dram (not going to look it up).

Somewhat depends on your usage scenario and budget though. This can be used in a PS5. It wouldn't really be any better in an older computer or as a pc storage drive.

Thanks for posting. Been wanting to get a solid (or Solidigm!) 2tb drive for under $100, and this seems the like for me at the moment. Purchased.

Wondering the same thing. Any benefits for the P41 Plus over the 670p for a steam game drive in a PCIE 3 system?

For this price, get TLC drives instead.

Probably not, these dram-less drives take advantage of the faster PCIe 4 bus for much of their performance.

DRAM-less take advantage if the BIOS/OS employs HMB (host media buffer), the PCI bus bandwidth/generation has a minor if any benefit.

Too slow I wouldnt buy this crap for a PS5. It probably works as storage just fine but when the specs tell you up to 4,125 MB/s read speeds it probably in reality means something like 3,500 when Sony reccomends 5,500 or more.
You are correct, the PS5 uses a specialized hardware w/ boosted SSD controller so this will require a high end latest gen 4.0 device because of the way the PS5 uses copies from the SSD to memory so it can only afford a second of lag from SSD -> DMA. It is an entirely proprietary solution. Since I was a kid Sony has always used some proprietary technique, this is no different.

Outside of the PS5 use case which this obviously isn't for, the other 99.99% of people could use this. I put this in my kids gaming PC, it does the duty for direct/steam games no problem, and HMB works. While this isn't the most durable or fast the extra second of game load time the average person would be OK with.

As to price, there is a GLUT of SSD so this is just the beginning of the price drops for RAM and SSD. If you have no immediate need to update, by BF they will be dirt cheap.

Not if some random giant flood in the summertime at a big chip factory has anything to say about it! 😆 but I'm glad to see that 1tb ssds are almost reaching the same price as 1tb mechanical drives
