I will not say it's my best investment since I did not pay for it but got it together with a Mac studio, but it is a good keyboard, to have lighted keys? on wireless keyboard is never heard of.
It's better than the rectangular black keyboard I had before without touch ID (new round corners keyboard does not catch as much dirt between the keys as the old one, not certain if that's design improvement), but it's not without small inconveniences. Also touch ID replaced eject button from the keyboard and now you cannot use it in the combination of keys to turn off Mac for example. When you start your computer you still have to enter the password, touch ID works only after that. It is certainly long-lasting and can work weeks without recharge.
Is it worth the money? It depends on what kind of work you do, and how much you invested in your hardware from Apple. If you're ready to spend like me $5000 for Mac studio an extra $200 will not be too much. Also consider gaming keyboards which cost an excess of $200, some people swear by them, others do very well with regular cheap keyboards.

I have the Apple magic keyboard II and the Apple bluetooth touchpad, and with sale prices I got those two combined for about as much as they're asking for this one. Maybe a little bit more. If they would make a bluetooth keyboard with the touchpad *attached* instead of the alphanumeric extension, I'd consider paying a premium price like the one being asked here.
FWIW, it looks as if one can get a renewed version of this alphanumeric keyboard at Amazon [amazon.com]for $127.37.
