Dumb. That is like saying Costco toilet paper is $70 because you need a membership.

Anyway, they are have a deal right now that is giving $10 rewards when you sign up. So the membership is $5 if you want to buy something.

Not salty at all. In fact I think Wall Street as it currently is shouldn't be allowed to exist and I'm glad the Reddit kids were able to stick one to the man for once. My comment has more to do with the long-term value of a membership with a company in a dying industry (physical software sales).

Grab few sets of Eneloop/Ikea Ladda (same batteries as Eneloop) and a charger. They last much longer than rechargeable battery packs, and the good Japanese rechargeables will last you for 10 years before you need to replace them. I know it takes a few seconds to swap them, but I've found having a couple sets already charged is better than the charging stands. Charging stands are kind of fiddly, and there have been a few times I've picked the controller up only the realize it wasn't seated perfectly in the stand and never charged.

I grabbed https://a.co/d/gXQWNte and a couple of docks from 5 below. I've been happy with them.

I had rechargable AAs, but I found these better use case for me. also work great for my kids Xbox controllers.
