having said that I did notice the cheaper usb 2.0 version of the drives can be hit or miss, some are defective right out of the box/package .. of course these are pretty cheap so it's a matter of getting what you pay for
If you do a google search for usbdeview it will turn up a free downloadable tool you can use to test the speed of the usb drive just to make sure it's working properly and at usb 3.0 speeds rather than usb 2.0 speeds or something crazy like that.
