Blackstone 4-Burner 36" Griddle Cooking Station with Hard Cover https://www.walmart.com/ip/1347629739

Isn't this a better buy at $279.00 with the top cover? Or is this basically for those who don't want/need the cover and prefer the front shelf attachment?

I already own the Walmart one. Which leads to my next question - does anyone have a hinged cover for the 36" griddle they would recommend? Most of the stuff I come across looks like thin sheet metal with a heat resistant powder coating. I was hoping to find something with a thicker material. Suggestions would be much appreciated!

Love my Blackstone and can't recommend them enough.

Would the surface rust if not well looked after?

Stainless steel would be the way to go for a outdoor griddle.

Serious question, I want your thoughts. I was waiting for a deal on a good weber 3 burner steel model with side burner. Now seeing this and all the positive reviews, makes me wonder. If one were to choose either a weber grill or this one? which one? I know they are different but consider that I don't have money or space for both. And whichever I pick will be my only tool. Would this do what weber does? to some level? TIA for your thoughts.
They have the hybrid version, which has a griddle and grill. I got that one, because I still want charcoal.

Be warned, if you live in a colder climate, these make great nesting places for all types of animals. I learned the hard way leaving this out in the winter

How does the griddle in the weber manage grease? That and size might be the two distinctive features of a blackstone
Handles grease just like bbq, goes down into trap. I was wondering same question as this poster. Weber sells a summit size (4 burner) griddle plate for 100$. If I can just add the plate when I want a griddle surface this seems optimal. But I don't see any user testimonials out there. Maybe it's a new accessory.

I have an older model and added the cover and the 3 sided elevated fold-away trays. Done bragging so I'll move on.

I love this grill.

I have gone through several decent, medium quality grills over the last 20-30 years. You know... that Lowe's/Home Depot stainless propane crap that rots away unless you pressure wash it after every meal.

I use this on a screened porch for eveything from breakfast to fajitas. Nothing drips on the burners, not much smoke, and after maybe... 6 years I feel like this will never decompose like regular grills. It is solid as long as you take even minimal care of it.

I use a Weber Q2200 for steaks and burgers and yes... I pressure wash that one after every meal. Well... every 50 meals. That one is for camping but I have it set up on the deck for the grill marks when you want them.

This price seems a bit high, but every price seems high these days. If I didn't already have one, I'd get this one. Granted, if I didn't already have one, I wouldn't know how much I'd want one.

This evening I threw a bunch of frozen Steak-Ums on it and made low quality Philly Steak&Cheese sliders. Not my best meal, but I was tired and hungry... and I'm no longer hungry anymore.

If you get one I hope you avoid the Walmart drop-kick shipping method. If they don't bend it, Fed-Ex will.

Another note. The gridle top accounts for at least half of the weight of the entire grill. It's thick. It takes a little while to heat, and to heat evenly. If you toss a whole bag of bacon on there when you think it is hot, it will cook slowly at first, then start cooking a lot faster. Don't go back inside to take in a Saturday morning cartoon unless you like your bacon dark. I usually run the two middle burners at a lower setting than the two outside. Be patient when pre-heating.

When turning the bacon with tongs, grab the back of each strip. If you grab the front, you will flick hot grease on your pants... or worse if you are not wearing pants.

Clean off the stuck on food after cooking, takes only a few minutes. Then oil it. I clean mine right after. Its simple maintenance. Then keep it covered.

I don't think I will have the same luck as they show a different model.

no, once it's properly seasoned it will be fine.
I leave my 36" blackstone outside 24/7 with the hard cover and a cheap amazon vinyl feeling cover, and it's fine.
I hadn't used mine in about 2 months and it was still pristine when I pulled the covers off to use it last weekend. as long as you season it and keep it oiled, you're gtg

Does the version with the hood ever go on sale? Really would like the one with the hood but only seeing it at $500 at stores and haven't seen any discounts on it lately. Doesn't seem like you can easily add a hood to the 4 burner after the fact so guess I will keep waiting

I've got an older version (with the front oil catch/drip edge) and I would buy it again any day of the week. Very solid price on this and you will not be disappointed.

I like the added magnetic utensil holder, I'll have to see if there is a way to rig that up on my old model.

You can get an insert for the entire grill, not cheap though.

$249 for a Weber Griddle? vs a Blackstone?
