I wouldn't call Teamgroup no name, as I've seen their ram sticks at major retailers for many years. And it's not like PNY is thought of on the same tier as, say, WD.

Bought one up 2 weeks ago for a few bucks more solely as a gaming drive, totally worth it, especially if you are still living in the stone age of hdd's.

One with DRAM will perform better because it can store the most frequently used assets in the DRAM. Anecdotally, ones installed internally but without DRAM may have issues with clip-in and freezing while the assets are read:

https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comm...th_an_ssd/

A USB 3.1 port with a proper 10Gbps adapter or enclosure will actually provide more bandwidth than the internal SATA connection (1250MBps vs 750MBps, theoretical), but both exceed the speeds that this type of SSD can achieve. This choice is more important on the launch and slim PS4 consoles since they only have SATA2 connectors (300MBps).

For my PS4 slim, I used a SABRENT 10Gbps adapter cable (~$15) and put my drive into an enclosure of a drive that failed.

Basically this. If the 4TB is $160 I'll bite.

Western Digital SN350 is the same price for an NVMe drive. I guess it does come with the a crummy, but probably more than most people will use in a lifetime 100TBW. There isn't much by way of reviews of the AX2 on line, but it probably isn't going to outperform the SN350.

The EX2 is a better drive at $44, but then that's now 670p money.

Maybe, maybe not. Black Friday deals weren't fantastic last year.

I'm surprised to see all these no-name ssds popping up for sale. Is it worth it to save a few dollars to not buy something like a PNY or crucial that has brand name recognition?
