They have cheap shit, yes, but harbor freight is perfect for any tool that only sees occasional use. If you don't use it enough to break it, harbor freight is the way to go. And if you do break it, you know it's worth it to invest in something higher end.

That is probably when they want to get the more transient occasional shoppers in the door. During the week its probably more professionals that don't need as much incentive

I tried to use a 30% off $9.99 coupon there on a Sunday but the cashier told me I needed to join their $30 membership to use the coupon, even though the coupon didn't specify for members only. I didn't have time to argue over $3 but I won't be rushing back to HF on a weekend to try to use a coupon

Simple- A b&m store like HF is geared to the weekend warrior repair crowd who work during the week. Hence the reason for generally cheaper crappy products that will see less use and abuse than those used by professionals who depend on quality. They know their products are inferior, but get the suckers in the door with crappy freebies.

Now that's not saying every single product they sell is trash, but far and away most of the items they sell are guaranteed dumps in boxes. And yes, I do occassionally go into a HF to pick up something. It's still the best place to get that cheap wrench to be heated and bent to substitute for an otherwise $300+ Snap-On specialty tool to remove some out of the way fastener.

Can you use a super coupon for the 16" Hercules bag and the coupon for the free batteries at the same time? Last time I tried a coupon at HF I got hung up on some technicality where the coupon didn't work with Hercules products.

They've had things like foam brushes or chip brushes for under 50 cents. Haven't been in lately - inflation might have raised those prices a bit.

Just got these cheap batteries along with some other items yesterday (they were around $2.5), could have gotten one or two free items today.

Thanks OP. The batteries will come in handy for the 'free' lights they give out that use 4 batteries each 😬

The last time I went to harbor freight for a free item, they didn't even have them in stock a few hours into the first day of the promotion. I won't let them waste anymore of my time.

Coupons are all about getting traffic in the door, many people are likely to intentionally go to a store if they know they can get a little extra...making that day more special than any other time that they can go. That being said, I cashed in on the flashlights yesterday so each of my daughters had one to play with so...I mean Friday is thrown into the deal...better than just Sat/Sun when I'm usually doing things with the fam. They really upset their coupon game in the last couple years, I was hoping some of it might return. Esp the 20% off coupons...considering everything went 20% lol.

Hercules is marketed as one of their premium brands and so I would understand it being listed as an exclusion on a heavily discounted percentage off coupons - that being said...it's a bag, not a drill or a power tool so kinda lame they didn't accept it. It should have said Hercules power tools excluded but it's not my store so who knows what's up. It's all computer driven so it wasn't the clerk being a jerk, it's just the way the coupons are coded in their point of sale system. That being said, you used to be able to drop 20% coupons on just about everything with some exclusions to their premium product lines, then big/expensive items like tool boxes, air compressors, welders, and some of their flagship products of the store. I don't think you can 'stack' coupons but you can use more than one in a transaction...like a free with purchase coupon, plus a percentage off on one item, plus maybe a discounted price on a certain item like a power tool. Recently some of the 20-30% off coupons off of items under 20-25 bucks ring out as EVERY item you have under that price gets the discount...that's a real deal considering the old 20% off coupons were for a single item only. I guess that's good marketing and probably gets people in the door for the larger items where they can make more profit on that mark up. They're still making money so it's worth it. Anyway enough said, hope that helped a little.

I do miss the days of newspaper sized fliers that I'd look through to actually cut out the coupons for stuff on sale (plus the freebie plus the 20% off). Later I did the same but with the one page coupon sheet tucked behind the Parade magazine in the Sunday paper. That had me doing a weekly stop in and always picked up something. Now I get a Monday Friday text and a new TV commercial showing slow motion chainsaw then cut to restored Bronco pulling into an HB parking lot while the gravel voiced actor talks about "caring about your tewels (rhymes with jewels) and a job well done". I think I'll stop by tomorrow and get my free flashlights for old times sake .

Not terrible.

I've had generally good luck with HF stuff. Although their vacuum coolant filler didn't work. If it's the same thing as the box stores with a different label it's probably fine. Their abrasives for stuff where I don't care about finish quality are a good value.
