This is a tow strap, not a recovery strap. Words have meaning.

The rope threading looks really cheap and most of the reviews seem fake. Hard pass. Don't go cheap on a tow strap.

I bought the 20' strap back in December when it was $20

https://slickdeals.net/f/16295491-ticonn-20-recovery-tow-strap-and-combos-19-86-to-77-34-free-shippi...

This deal is just slightly better. I used it a month ago for recovery of Tundra stuck in the snow, worked perfectly. It is decently made and for the price and my infrequent use, was just what I wanted. I wouldn't use this for towing without a more secure connection (perhaps the deluxe kit) but not a bad strap to have if you have nothing. Not as durable as some of the straps I see my mudding and rock crawler friends have, so if you are a heavy user perhaps this is not the strap for you. Wish I would of bought the 30' version instead, 20' sounds like a good length until you see just how close the vehicles need to be.

Recovery strap would be for something like pulling a vehicle out of a snowy ditch.

Tow strap is just what the name says. It's used for towing.

Sure. Thanks. But what makes this tow strap rather than a recovery strap? Is it the material, the length, the maximum weight rating, strechability, Just trying to understand more.

Strength, you would never want a strap to break when trying to yank someone out of the mud or snow. If broken, a sling-shot effect can be very destructive, and even lethal.

It may work well for a lighter ATV.

This'll probably only work good as a toe strap.

When recovering a vehicle you want to use something such as kinetic rope that has some "bounce" to it. Less chance of it snapping and it uses its own kinetic energy to pop the vehicle out from where it is stuck.

The amount of energy required when recovering a stuck vehicle is substantial and if there is no "bounce" in the strap the greater likelihood of someone getting injured or vehicle damage if the strap breaks.

Kinetic ropes are made to withstand that bounce and can tolerate the stretching better than flat recovery straps.

Couple a kinetic rope to soft shackle and your chances of recovery and safety are exponentially greater.

TLDR; kinetic ropes are light years better than straps and also safer

This is in generalities, there's a lot of overlap between the two. I haven't actually looked at the products.

Tow strap:
Generally more rigid material (incl tow chains)
Generally lower maximum strength, static loads such as towing requires little dynamic strength
Some include metal clips that can become projectiles

Recovery straps:
Material usually has some stretch/give to reduce immediate loading on the strap (getting a small run up when trying to dislodge something)
Generally have a much higher dynamic lbs rating
Generally metal free or intended for use with shackles

edit: looking at the product page, they look fine for light duty. I keep something similar in my van along with shackles just Incase I ever get stuck in mud while camping so someone can unstuck me. if you do legit offroading get better.
