Not everyone has access to a Costco. Especially if you're in a rural town

Vinegar is an acidic solution, but it is not strong enough to dissolve plastic. Plastic is a polymer, a large molecule made up of repeating units, that is resistant to many chemicals. If it broke down plastics of any kind, they wouldn't sell it in a big plastic bottle. Now, if you were to add more chemicals to the mix (i.e. baking soda), then yes it may. However, most plastic containers (like PE, PVC, PS) are water insoluble thermoplastic polymers, and vinegar cannot dissolve plastics under normal conditions by itself.

More Walgreens deals that I would take advantage of if we had one 'round here.

A good indicator is to check the type of plastic. If it says HDPE at the bottom, it can't be stored in a regular plastic PET type bottle, as it will eat the plastic.

Vinegar is sold in PET bottles, so therefore I don't see how it poses harm. The plastic in your machine is a lot stronger polymer than PET.
This doesn't seem like a troll so I think you just got it backwards.
HDPE is more impact resistant (flexible) but less chemical resistant than PET.
I've never seen a gallon jug of vinegar sold in anything but HDPE.
I learned this long ago working with flavorings. The corrosive ones like citrus for example will eat an HDPE bottle, yet perfectly fine in PET.

Order online, app or website, then pickup has different prices than at store. Sometimes it's the same.

I asked the manager if they'll match and he said no.

"80" (ideal) loads for $25 isn't exactly a steal. Nor is useless clothes destroying softeners. All in lovely individually packaged plastic jugs. Great. Best deal is look elsewhere for larger package, sustainably packaged detergents. How does this make front page?

I keep reading places that vinegar is not great for plastic, for the components inside the washer and the tubes. I don't know who is right or not, but I stopped using vinegar and softener in my washer.
This is the same machine people put literal sodium hypochlorite (bleach) into. You think some 5% acetic acid solution (mostly water) is going to damage it? Yes one is an acid the other a base, but if we're worried about strong chemicals (like I don't know, detergents...) I think the manufacturer's engineers have already thought it through.

Also vinegar comes in plastic bottles! As well as bleach.

Tell that to my 19 year old washer
I've heard it's more about buildup and mildew and not necessarily damaging the machine. Again, hearsay with no evidence. There is evidence, however, that it's not great for clothes (or at least some kinds of clothes).

You pay more for something you may or may not want in every wash, and may or may not be at the concentration you wish, and may or may not even be present.
