According to this[blakadder.com]it looks like these use the ESP8266 chip. At this price I'll order several and give a go at opening them up and reprogramming them with Tasmota[github.io]so they work entirely locally, no foreign servers involved.
Would love to order these but my last two orders from Monoprice still have no order or shipment confirmations and no response via email. Only thing confirmed was my payment to them.
edit: I'll go through Wally this time.
Link with Tuya and you can use either the Tuya cloud integration or the Tuya LAN integration for local only access. Fantastic! In for 20 sets!
Do i need to have some app installed to pair this first before adding them into HASS, I like to keep away from third party apps, specially they want me to sign into their cloud. please let me know. thanks.

You need to link them via Tuya first. Cannot connect directly without using the cloud API to setup first
