This drive was launched in Dec 2021 so any "used" drives would probably be no older than ~1 year. Surprising how fast these came to the "used" market

Sounds like you are just not sure what to do. You missed one other individual post to reply to though, maybe that one will have the answer.

$14.5/TB. Pretty good price for a brand new large capacity (18 TB+) HDD drive. Usually it will cost you about $15/TB for a similar product.

Not bad, but I bought two 14 tb, EXOS 16's from them a few months ago, for $130.. and somehow they didn't add sales tax, which is 10.2% for me.... so, that made me happy. I also got 4 new 16's for $210 ea on ebay..a bt cheaper per tb

I am trying to like this deal, go ahead and purchase 4 new drives for my nas. But what is worrying me is that there are too many "refurbished" seagate drives everywhere vs there is almost none "refurbished" wd or hitachi drives.
Just I never had a single wd drive failed but probably had at least 4 seagates failed over 20 years
Do you know why there are so many refurbished seagates around?

He's saying if you end up buying the refurbs, then there will be a certain level of expectation.

Actually Tom's Hardware just posted an article about how poorly Seagate and Hitachi drives have been, though this isn't any "news"

Seagate and Hitachi made their popularity due to being the primary drives offered with big companies PCs and servers like HP, Dell, IBM, etc. I've had more failed Seagate mechanical drives in the past ~15 years than any other brand. Hitachi's DeskStar line in a close second.

But yes it's a good price. I would even say get it if you need one. Just don't expect to run it for 7+ years and don't expect to be writing to it constantly or it could belly up sooner than later.

Good for NAS and basic file, ftp or web server storage. If you're worried about failure get 2 or more and raid them.
