Deal History
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
It doesn't work while ordering, as soon as you remove the tree item, discount goes away.
I guess the *hack* is that you refuse to pick up the free item at store and walk away only with this item but don't think that'll be an easy or a good thing to do.
Odd.. it worked fine for me.. I ordered both... waited a couple minutes for it to show up in my orders, clicked "cancel items" and then it brought up both bags. Canceled the fertilizer and now I have two bags of the turf builder to go pick up. Got email confirmations in about 10 minutes..
It definitely still works... as I just did it again. I am on my home computer on the HD website. You click on the Scotts Turf Builder 3n1 and then right below it on the right it shows the free item clicker. Click on it, it will add to your cart for pick up. Check out. I am using HD card. Wait a minute or two and then click "purchase history" for the order to show up. Click on the order > (arrow thing) and then click on "cancel items". Then it gives you both items, each cancellable. click on the fertilizer to cancel. Then it just leaves the 3n1 in your cart for pickup.
Not really sure how it isn't working for folks as this is 3 times it has worked over 2 days...
Wound up getting Scotts Weed & Feed (yellow bag) @ Costco for around $35/16k sq ft but had to jump through some hoops.
It's usually ~ $80 but Costco has a promo - buy an additional item from a list of items (Miracle-Gro and Ortho which are fertilizers, or bug or weed killer), all of which are around $25/ea, and get $50 off. So that's a 16k sq ft bag of the Scotts and one other item for about $55. Not bad because the Scotts bag alone is around $80 everywhere, even our local Job Lot place.
So how did I get to $35? Sell the "additional item" on marketplace. In this case I got 3 of the deal; on one of the transactions I got some weed killer which I'll use. On the other 2 transactions I got Ortho defense, which actually had (2) 1.33 gallon jugs each, or 4 for total. sold the 4 for $10/ea, basically giving me a further "discount" of $20 per bag of Scotts. The ortho sold within a few days and I actually wound up meeting the guy @ Costco for the exchange
So I will wind up paying about $125 for 48k sq ft of Scotts and 2 gallons of weed killer, vs. spending about $240 for just the Scotts, walk-up at a Home Depot or etc.

That's exactly what I just did. Weed and feed this weekend. Lawn food in 8 weeks!
