I've bought PT several times over the last decade or so and still haven't touched it. I really want to since it's apparently one of the best stories in all of gaming but I just can't get over the combat in old school CRPGs like this.

Some might say if you keep putting it off, you might feel regret.

There IS no combat. Not really, because after some initial rough spots, the game becomes a cakewalk. I think I beat it as an unarmored wizard knifing monsters to death and casting practically no spells. People play it for the story, not the game mechanics.

NWN:EE is great and fills a unique niche that is yet unmatched in gaming:

1) Portal to thousands of custom crafted single player D&D campaign modules via the Neverwinter Vault site. Some series like Swordflight rival Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 in hours of content. Here is the Hall of Fame: https://neverwintervault.org/arti...-hall-fame
2) Portal to dozens of customized mini-MMOs, some roleplay oriented others PvE grind or PVP oriented. Besides unique lands and quests, many feature custom races, classes, feats, skills etc. Here is a server list with live player counts: https://nwn.beamdog.net/

They just came out with a huge patch officially supporting community efforts to create improvements.

Yeah, the system (2nd-ish ed D&D) is hard to learn/care about, but I agree with what chocobo said. There's not much combat. It's mostly fetch quests and dialogue. With a couple slow dungeons to crawl through.

I've heard that you can find a way out of combat but it's harder to do. I played Tides of Numenera (the spiritual successor) and the combat was extremely hard to circumvent and had by far the worst combat system I've ever played. One day hopefully I'll get around to this.

They are all masterpieces of CRPG. They may be dated, but each and everyone was amazing at the time they were released.
