Petite refers to the inseam (refers to the height of a woman). It can also refer to other measurements other than inseam to scale down all measurements to fit a shorter lady. I think 5 foot 4 is the general cutoff for if a lady would be better off in "petite" sizes. So if there isn't a petite selection of sizes for an article of clothing, the range of sizes offered (like in this product) including 2xs is based on a predetermined average "regular" height which is usually around 5 foot 5. So the 2xs would be perfect for a slim 5 foot 5 but not the correct inseam for a slim 5 foot lady.

I am totally obsessed with these pants Big Grin They were on sale recently on the adidas ebay store for a similar price a believe, but less color options at the time. If you look at the final sale category from the top menu, you will find some other things on sale, apart from the pants, although some can be available only in super limited sizes. I managed to order a track jacket to go with the pants Smilie

If you never bought these pants, what I like about them the most is the flattering fit (at least on my body type), the zippered pockets (I don't want stuff to fall out of my pockets at the gym or on a hike), the zipper at the bottom (if you overdress on a hike, you can at least get some air flow in by opening the zippers). What I don't like is that the fabric easily snags. I wore these on hikes for years and, if you are not careful, and you are scrambling over rocks, you may damage the fabric. Not an issue during daily wear in the city. I realize they are not meant for this kind of activity though, and I am more careful now and also wear actual hiking pants if I know I need to crawl over boulders.
