you won't find anything else with dirac and full pre-outs at anywhere near this price.

I saw a comparison photo showing both the insides and the layout is the same (can't find it again). Whether there are component quality differences or whatever, I don't know if anybody has compared to that level of detail.
The back panels are the same. https://imgur.com/a/pqg9CIL The internal layout is the same. The menu system is the same except for the logo. There are slight feature differences that you can learn about if you want to read through all those forum threads.

Never again, Onkyo.
The original Onkyo company went out of business and the company that now owns Pioneer purchased the Onkyo name. The equivalent Pioneer VSX-LX505 and this Onkyo RZ50 are nearly identical internally and in the firmware. There is no hardware design relationship between the parts in this Onkyo and the old models that had the HDMI board problems.
So there's no chance the same problem is persisting. Whether there is any new reliability issues, we'll have to wait a couple years to find out.
The Onkyo TX-NR7100 and one of the new Integra DRX models are also built on the same platform. They are all similar with slight variations in number of channels and other things like the Pioneer can't have variable crossover.
This experience was very unfortunate as I got a positive initial taste of this product. However seeing that a firmwate update can require me to ship a 30lbs item to a service center warranty considerations became a priority so I returned the unit and went with another brand.

This one says 250w with 2 channels. How much per channel with 7 channels driven, 75w?
If I had a 3800 h and was happy with the volumes it supplied I'd wait for the rz70 to come down in price to this level in a year or two, This is not a huge improvement as your denon does pretty much everything this one does except for a different room correction (and has 4 subs out So you don't need a y adapter if you have more than two.) Again, if you're happy with the performance of yours, keep it and wait.
Someone asked about ART, word is it will not be offered on this(like that's a surprise) but still no answer regarding Denon/Marantz.

Overall, most would say not to go from 3800 to the RZ50.
" Most" have said that Dirac is clearly a better room correction system than Audyssey
Not sure what your criteria is for saying the Denon X3800 is a better unit
From where I sit there are pluses and minuses to either units
If I were choosing, from only those two, it would be the Onkyo used as a pre/pro and the purchase of a separate amp
The Onkyo NR7100 and one of the Integra DRX models are also built on the same platform.
The only difference seems to be the inclusion of XLR inputs on the Integra
Never again, Onkyo.
