Devs have been doing this strategy the last few years where they release the glimpse of the first story arc or a prologue of their game as a free standalone under the same game title, but with a spinoff subtitle (<Game Title>: First Chapter, Prologue, The Beginning, etc.), and then try to up-sell the follow-up, which is the real game.

Basically just a soft-launched demo with another name that isn't hidden away as some side-button on the main game's store page. Adds a lot of clutter to the Steam store catalogue, though.

This looks a lot like Doom . But why are so many games set in Hell when there are any number of large US cities that are far more horrible than Hell could ever be.

Does not +1 your total game count if that's what you're after.

Nothing in the description or reviews indicate that it's a demo. It is a full game, just a project of an independent dev.

It's still deceptive. There is nothing wrong with making a demo and lots of games on steam have them. But at least state it as such. Don't say it's a free game in an attempt to get more people to add it to their steam library.

Clearly a callback to the 90s shooters, right down to how it's being marketed.

Anyone remember Wolfenstein 3D: First Encounter?

No? FML I'm old. lol.
