This is actually made by Frigidaire. Whirlpool is long done with making appliances for them.

We had the Frigidaire equivalent of this in our apartment. Thing was definitely abused by us living there. Sometimes people would forget to scrap all the food, plastic items melted on the heating rod a few times. We used the cheap great value powder in it. Everything came out pretty clean without prerinse using the heavy setting, hi temp rinse, heat dry. We would stack and angle plates around whatever open space we found so as long as it was angled down with some space for the jets it washed. It was somewhat noisy for sure (like a dryer running without any clothes in it). Drying wise it did good with heat dry on. Got all glass items dry even though it was a plastic tub. Plastic items would be drenched with water though. We never used any jet dry. Only vinegar. The fact that it was running after we left with 4 roommates and the way it was treated really made me inclined to put this in our new home. Did a lot of research and ended up putting in an LG

For the price though this can't be beat. It's not the best of the best but it will do a better job cleaning than any other GE, Whirlpool equivalent in this price range that I've came across or seen at the showrooms.

Best part of it all is I believe all Ikea appliances have a 5 year warranty so it's a no brainer at this price

Also the black stainless version of these are also in AsIs for 70% off. We couldn't find the regular one on sale at the time when we were building our home

I don't think they are all built the same. My sister's nice Bosch dishwasher cleans much better than my cheap renter's dishwasher. Their unit clean any dishes, bowls, utensils as long as they fit in the unit. Mine only clean well when I place the dishes and bowls in specific order and orientation, or they won't be clean thoroughly.

Seems like a good deal, and my current dw is getting pretty long in the tooth. Question, my counter top would block the buttons like they are being blocked in the pictures. Do you push the buttons and then close the door? Is that how it's supposed to work?
yes, you push the buttons with the door open, then close it.

it did fit! and is working great too

only thing that will take getting used to is my last dishwasher had a "press to open" function where as this one you hafta yank open. It feels wrong but I guess that's how it's gonna be from now on...
How difficult is it to install it?

All dishwashers are the same difficulty to install, easy'ish if you have a long water line & wiring.... I don't lol... and if you have new pipes or water cut-offs.... which I also don't (I had a mini emergency and had to turn my water off and run to the store to get a new valve).
And mine is at the end next to the wall AND I have tile up until the dishwasher so leveling/raising mine sucks

What's the point of a stainless tub anyway? What is the benefit, if any? My mom's Whirlpool had a plastic tub and lasted 15+ years until we replaced it with a Costco whirlpool and used her old one for my Gma's house that had a failed dishwasher.

There are a few good sales for dishwashers from Costco recently. The sales price is dropping back to pre-covid level. Yeah!!!!

Can I use this as a standalone dishwasher in the basement?

if you don't build the enclosure like karazi suggested when you open the door it will tip forward.

We were able to get one of these last night. I couldn't believe they still had two in stock! I thought they'd have sold out last weekend. The family card worked and we saved the extra 5%. Sales tax here is 6%, so it was just over $300. Thanks so much for posting this, I've been without a dishwasher for years.

These appliances always look nice on the exterior and interior, and usually come with cool things like a third row or reconfigurable rack. Unfortunately it doesn't indicate the performance of the washer, how well it dries, the grade of components, or the quality of mechanical design. Make sure you test it out as much as you can within the return period.

Ikea appliances are still made by Whirlpool. If you pull the warranty information from their site : https://www.ikea.com/us/en/files/...r_na-1.pdf
You'll see they even state that the warranty is through Whirlpool...

Why are there so many different versions with so many different prices and ratings?

If you really don't care what a standalone looks like, all you need is (minimum)24" wide plywood or chunk of countertop, fastened to wall, and at front, to dishwasher. "Industrial Chic"

>>Why are there so many different versions with so many different prices and ratings?<<

Capitalism & Competition. You would prefer a Soviet socialist choice?: "Comrade!...You can purchase a Stalin's favorite, a PRAVDA dishwasher, with patented very low noise, pretty long lasting Cast-Iron tub, and high pressure 2 horsepower, three phase pump, or, this large bottle of Dawn. Here in the Rodina, it is always your choice."

Its a dishwasher, all it needs to do is spray detergent water continuously.

Any features that make it stand apart are likely not needed, they are nice to have but you can survive without it.
You can apply the same logic to just about everything. But some dishwashers just wash better. If you are buying something for yourself to use in the next 10+ years, it pays to do some research before making a decision. Consumer Report does a reasonably good job in comparing them. I personally found that having a 3rd rack extremely useful.
