a really good itx motherboard for 12th and 13th gen intel processors. maybe the only down side is it is ddr5 which is more expensive. i couldn't find many z690 boards in the price range at any size, let alone itx.

my order:
gigabyte z690i aorus lite
intel i5 12600k for $193 when it was on sale last week.
g.skill ripjaw ddr5 ram 5600 CL28 ($122)

according to all the comparisons i could find. this i5 keeps up with all the highest end CPUs for gaming. obviously it does falls behind a high end Ryzen or i9 with games that utilize multi cores. but something about those 4E cores just keeps it towards the top of the pack for half the price.

also i found a linus tech tip video that compared ddr5 ram. the cheapest ram that performed at the same or better as the highest price ram was 5600 CL28 ram. so this was the cheapest i could find for 32gb. (yes i know 16gb would probably be enough for gaming).

The downside is that this is an Intel Motherboard.
AMD has better future-proof motherboards.

I still appreciate you posting though! Thumbed up!

I agree, as far as pcie 5 lanes. But for this being a "last gen" board, I figured it makes sense for something that will give easily 5 years of relevant performance for such a cheap price.

Keep in mind the 'lite' means gpu slot is pcie 3.0. Not a big deal now, and I have used two of these boards, but worth considering
