It depends. Higher MREV means better filtration. That means it's better removing smaller particles like pollen. Sometimes a higher MERV means lower airflow but with good filters that is not always true. If an air filter is too restrictive it is not good for your system. How's that for a non answer?

Yes I did. There was no checkbox to clip the coupon but it did say extra savings would be automatically applied at checkout, and it did.

It does depend - but it's clear that if you have a Heat Pump system the better of the two is the MERV 8. Better overall air flow is the key here. MERV 12 gets smaller particles - but is generally too restrictive for heat pump systems in terms of efficiency.
