I didn't purchase this deal, but I recently got a 13900k with a similar spec mobo and the same ram.
It's a great processor, but it runs super hot. If you don't have a large case with a large 280-360 AIO and ample ventilation, then you're going to have trouble keeping it below 90c. Running benchmarks, you will hit 100c.
So, get ready to spend more money on cooling.
Alternatively, you can undervolt the processor via bios config which will shave off 8-10c. But… you're still going to need good cooling (240 AIO minimum like the PL240)

I bet your temps are fine when you're not running benchmarks though 13700k is the same in that respect.

Gaming will get temps into mid 90s without proper cooling on my setup, but with undervolting and a nice AIO it maxes out at 80.
For reference I have a Define 7 case with noctua fans all around. It's admittedly too small of a case when you have an RTX card cutting off half of the case's circulation. Even so, I read hours worth of posts about people struggling to cool a 13900k.

Gotcha. I'm using a Phanteks Eclipse G500A so it's more of a mid-tower . i7 13700k with a Artcic Freezer II 360 AIO.
I agree though with intel cpus needing to be undervolted. It can be done with higher clock speeds too .

I'm running the 13700K with a Noctua U14S, and in Cinebench R23 it definitely thermal throttles in a case with a ton of airflow - stock. That said, with a -0.1V on the core, it no longer does, but it's close! Of course under regular use (gaming for me), this isn't remotely an issue, but lower temps are lower temps!

Nice job. I have my AIO set to silent so the slower ramp up allows my cpu to hit 81c before bringing it down

Yeah AIOs are the way with the 13900K, for suuuuure. I just feel like an AIO would drive my head in with the pump sound, as those sorts of noises are my kryptonite.

Understood!
The reason I picked the Artic Liquid Freezer II is because it's the most quiet 360 AIO
I've heard this is the truth, too. The way CPUs are going, I may have to get used to it sooner rather than later.
Both cpu companies are going to work on efficiency . Heck all the 7800X3D reviews are out today and that is one efficient cpu. If this was out in December I would have chose it over my 13700K . I even run my 4090 at 75% power limit until there is a reason not to . That saves me 80-120 watts depending on game

That's part of the reason I wasn't bothered when I got the MSI RTX 4090 Gaming Trio. It has a power limit of 450W, since the 600W cards are so pointless! Really looking forward to all this power-hungry stuff going away. Some of these new PSUs will overpower a 15A circuit. So crazy.

450 watts for gaming. Lol we definitely went wrong somewhere
How does this deal compare to the I7-13700k and the AMD Ryzen 7900X and 7950X deals-at MC? I'm interested in overall speed, value and future proofing and do not play games but might do some graphic design.
