The refurbished Kindle Paperwhite from 2015 (also called the 7th gen) is on sale for $20 at Woot right now for the used-good condition. I bought one of these a couple of months ago and found it to be a nice upgrade from the 2014/6th gen paperwhite I already had - it was a lot faster.

I found there's a 10% discount if you but two or more and log in with your Amazon account. I have several Kindles because if you load library books onto them and disconnect wifi, the books stay until you reconnect.

Thanks, I was wondering if that was still an option (keeping a book longer if you turn off wifi). I haven't tried in a long time, but I remember knowing you could in the past. I typically finish before the loan is up, but if I'm nearly done and the book is about to expire and there are already other holds on it, it's helpful to know I should turn off the wifi.

As long as you don't close the book or go to the home screen, the library book stays. You can also just turn on Airplane mode once it's downloaded.

That being said, this is a fantastic Kindle. I've currently got a newer model and use it daily. This line is the best/feature ratio of all the Kindle lineup.

Great deal, bought it on Sunday and arrived on Monday. Almost like new condition. I had this version and traded it in, now wanted another one. Its running a different firmware, which is really nice. Plus they replaced the charging port. The condition is labeled, Good, I felt like what I received was Like New. Maybe I got luck, I saw reviews in the past where people were disappointed from refurbished Kindles on Woot.

Many times the high seas is dry and the book I'm looking for isn't there... I can request the library purchases and usually within a week or two it's available.

yes this is a good one for first time. got my wife the same one as a first kindle and she loves it so I just bought one today for myself ! the back light is really helpful and much nicer than the non - back light versions
