Every NVME drive is heatsink compatible unless it already has a heatsink on it. What a stupid feature that they list!

Per several of the Q&A responses on the Amazon page, yes it is PS5-compatible. I cannot corroborate this firsthand. Also note that the language says that this SSD is "heatsink-compatible", not that it comes with a heatsink, so I don't know if additional hardware is needed.

I am not sure if it is still available, but wasn't the 990P a better deal?

Yep, I just bought one for the same reason. Crucial has a page dedicated to it as well:

Sony's official word is that you should use one: "Using an M.2 SSD with your PS5 console requires effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure, such as a heatsink and a heat transfer sheet. "

Source: https://www.playstation.com/en-us...ll-m2-ssd/

You might not need it depending on the drive and your environment, but they're cheap so why not?

Why aren't we seeing more deals on gen 3 stuff with 2+ TB and up? Maybe vendors are overstocked on gen 4 and are looking to unload.

Why second guess? The cheap but adequate ones are around $10 and for a few more dollars you can get ones with pre-applied thermal pads.

This was $123 on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Not a deal today IMHO.

The better deal is also the one that's still available. Unlike the 990 deal from earlier.
