The life * products were designed to be sold in best buy (it's now expanded a bit past that), the Q* are sold elsewhere including directly from anker , otherwise there's no real difference other than branding.

For those on the fence I have been using my set of these for just over a year with daily outdoor use and have absolutely no complaints (note I do wear a large knit cap when it is below freezing out.) If you want a set of affordable, decent performing cans with user adjustable eq and a transparent mode you really cannot go wrong at this price.

Edit: forgot to mention, one thing to keep in mind is out of the box. These have more upfront bass then either the q30 or Q45, some people prefer less bass and if you are one of those, it might make sense to get a q30 or q45 instead. For me, these are my preferred model of the q range.

I purchased the model below these on a similar deal from their eBay store as refurbs. They work great. They did arrive without the aux and usb-c cables, but Anker quickly sent out brand new cables without any trouble. I would jump on these

All my headphones from anker last just over a year. I have these q35 and now only one side works. Super annoying. At this point worthless. Trying the akg for 60$.

Great headphones for the price. I have both the Life Q30 (model below) and Space Q45 (model above), and often recommend both to people looking for a quality budget headset.

My only complaints are potential build quality issues (it's light and I feel they might be easy to break), and that the ear pads are not replaceable, but that's minor.

While it's not the most detailed sound, it still punches way above this price point, and the adjustable EQ makes a bid difference.

FWIW, I tend to use my Q30 at the gym and the Q45 during travel.

I have not had them stop working I have q30 and then the replacement of that. The old ones are prob 2-3 years old and the foam padding is falling apart and flaking. Anyone know of a way to replace or just toss?

Wanted to reiterate how significant the two issues listed here are. I wanted headphones for the gym and the non replaceable pads coupled with how fragile these felt in hand/on head made me quickly return them before even trialing them at the gym.

Got these last time they were on sale. The sound is ok and the mic is awful. They are comfortable and the ANC is decent. They are good for the price.

I just recently purchased the q35 because of all the good reviews but I ended up sending them back. They felt so cheap and unless you adjusted the eq on them they sounded very muffled. I ended up getting the akg and love them so far. Their built nice have some nice weight to them and sound great.

I guess it depends on how active you are at the gym. I don't bounce around a lot (bad knees, middle aged), so my biggest concern is sweat. They haven't broken down because of that.

That said, I certainly don't blame anyone for returning them for the reasons you mention. For this price, I don't know that you'll find much better; the others I've seen at this price end up being super clunky or just not staying on when doing things where you lay flat. I have used the SRhythm NC-25, which has crap sound and ANC, but is cheap and stays on. The SoundCore are hands down better overall, especially for sound.

Of course, there's always the earbuds route. I've stared to become a fan of the JLab stuff, though I prefer something with better noise canceling.

How do these compare to the AKG's that are also $60? ANC, Sound, comfort, build in that order of priority.

I was waiting for the Sony XM4's and XM5's and they finally went on sale refurb from Secondipity but I couldn't bring myself to bite at $170 and $220.

These second tier cans, would you say the ANC and sound is about 85% of the Sony's and Bose and Sennheiser's?

Damn! I got these for $100 a few weeks back. I'm happy with them but kinda bummed out about the lower price. I could have had them for less.
