This is a problem with buying any cologne online save for direct from manufacturer or a high end retailer. With the more reputable retailers it still exists to the tune of 10-15% of reviews, and it's hard to tell whether they're just being taken by knockoffs in their supply chain or whether people refuse to accept that they could buy their favorite cologne at a discounted price.
I find it a bit hard to believe that Amazon or Walmart would knowingly directly sell counterfeit merchandise with the repercussions they'd have to face. I do think they look the other way when counterfeits are sold on their platforms by third party sellers because of plausible deniability, but direct would be tough for them to explain.
I literally have one from Macy's and one from Walmart. No difference. Maybe it depends on seller

Showed out of stock when I opened in incognito. I clicked on more seller options and saw that walmart was an option. It let me add to cart for shipping from there, no pickup option granted.

How did you establish that it was fake?
