you don't know if your lugs are cross threaded until the next time you try to remove them. and I'm not leaving anything out. any cheap tire shop will scratch your wheels to get them mounted quickly, and not bat an eye. there's people out there getting te37's scratched because they went to firestone to get their tires installed, and costco isn't an exception. you really need to go to a performance car/tire shop to avoid this.

I was taking my wheels off to do a brake bleed after my last tire rotation at costco, when I found one of them stuck. Had to take it to a shop to get the wheel bolts cut, where they found another lug stuck. I wasn't the one that dealt with the tire center after this happened, so maybe I could've gotten the repair cost back myself, but they apparently pointed to a statement written in their policy that evaded responsibility. either way, it's a pain to deal with snapped wheel bolts. I'm doing my tire rotations myself now, which is pretty annoying.
I always loosen and torque lugs to spec after someone else touches them. I've been lucky enough to have mostly no issues. My wife's car had lugs so tight once that I couldn't break them loose bouncing on the lug wrench with my 190# body weight. I'm not usually confrontational, but I chewed that shop out. I was surprised the threads weren't pushed.

Also, I've had very good luck not having my wheels damaged. YMMV

I always check to see if the CrossClimate2s are in stock for any of my cars, and they never are. It's been 2 years of checking without intention of buying and it is always OOS.

I ended up going to Discount Tire since they had everything in stock.

I've heard Costco's tire center is a nightmare to deal with, especially when it comes time to make an appointment and the turn around time.
I had tires installed last year and it was pretty painless. I was able to get them installed while I shopped.

I did have an issue with the TPMS light coming on but it was pretty quickly resolved.

Sounds oh so familiar. Shortly after getting rotated at Costco, I replaced the struts. First side went fine, other was stuck. Since I was halfway through the job I did what I had to do to get the lug nuts off, one broke it was cross threaded so badly. A few others looked pretty trashed. They offered to pay for the one bolt I replaced. Gee thanks. Now like you I just rotate myself. Not hard but only takes a couple minutes with a lift if they would just start the nuts by hand.

For those of us not spending $900 or more, What am I missing here? Isn't this the same deal that comes around every few months? $150 off total?
I planned on getting the CrossClimate2 when they went on sale for $150 off on wed. This is an additional $50 off and I'll helpfully get my tires sooner.

I just ended up getting Bridgestone for $150 off 4 on Friday, a lot of people in line and no appointments available for two weeks. Had them do it and it took two hours but they left a lug nut on the passenger seat and said something weird like my nuts were covered in grease and they had a lot of trouble getting them off and back on??? I pulled a tire iron from my trunk and did it myself but damn talk about lazy!

obviously ymmv, but costco screwed me over bad last year. i was taking my car in for free tire rotations, and whichever idiot worked on my car cross threaded two lugs on the car. it wasn't cheap to get them removed, and obviously the people working at the tire center evaded responsibility. definitely woudln't be beyond them to scratch your rims as well
Had something similar happen to me..i immediately got hold the manager and made them pay for the repairs. NEVER AGAIN will i buy my tires at Costco !

Is Costco membership (current) needed for rotation and balancing? Not planning to renew the Costco membership next year. Wondering if it is worth the purchase.
They will give you a hassle...so another reason not to use Costco !! I PREFER Discount Tire !!!

MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE2 235/55R20 102V BSW

Paid $937.75 after $150 off in Jan 2022. It's been great so far. As others mentioned, highly recommend if in stock.

The current "standard" deal (runs several times/year) going through June is $150 off for Michelins and $110 for BFG. This deal is a one day sale for an additional $50 off Michelins. I don't follow it that close, but don't think the extra $ off happens that often.
but only if you spend $900 or more right? My tires are $609 so it wouldn't benefit me since $150 is the same price?

Discover card cash back bonus this quarter is for purchases made at warehouse stores, but since Costco doesn't take Discover it doesn't apply.
Too late now, but they do take Discover and other CCs online.

Bolded text is the kind of information that I am looking for.
I'm still curious.

You say after but not whether it was the same day (immediately after), a week after, a month after, or how long after. These things make a difference in your case for obvious reasons. Easier to pin it on them the shorter the time that goes by.
FYI, those waivers and disclosures do not legally absolve them for damages they directly cause for negligence or things they do improperly. It is different if it is required for them to do their job and something just breaks.

Again, they have insurance for these issues. You should have them put you in touch with their insurance to file a claim unless it is so far in the past that it is useless. Best of luck if you can follow up!
Another way to go is to file with the State Atty General.
