The screens on the Instinct 1 and 1S are outstanding and don't have the "upside down installation" of the instinct 2 … I returned one due to that
Garmins with the 5 button system can navigate the entire watch without a Touchscreen. Epix 2 has one but I rarely turn it on much less use it. Not sure if the instinct models have touch or not.
In regards to comparison the garmins have much better battery life (count in days to weeks vs hours). But Samsung and wear os in general has stuff like a web browser and many other phone features. The garmins do get some points back for their fitness tracking info. It's alot of info and decently accurate and it integrates better with more gym equipment.
I would suggest at least going with the instinct 2 for the better hr sensor or the crossover for better GPS and actual analog hands
