Almost time for me to get one of these, but $50 still seems too high. Not asking for the good ol' days of $30, but at least low $40s would be nice.

Not sure if it still works this way, but I recently let my Gold + Game Pass expire. Bought 3 years of Gold codes, entered them. Got the offer for 1 month of Game Pass for $1, when redeeming it converted to 3 years of GP along with my Gold time.

I had asked someone from MS if this would work, was assured it would, they were right.

$50 for a legit code isn't bad, some of those lower priced code sites make me nervous.

Upgrade / conversion process still works, but Microsoft axed the $1 promotion for first month of Game Pass Ultimate. Need to either pay the usual $15 for first month, or buy a GPU code.

That's pretty much how it works, except see my post above. Make sure to redeem all Xbox Live Gold codes BEFORE signing up for Game Pass Ultimate.

If you mean using 12 month Xbox Live Gold code on an existing Game Pass Ultimate subscription, it's actually converts to less (4 months GPU to be exact).
