I am mildly surprised Asus didn't drop in a discrete GPU given the MSRP.

Vivobooks come with discrete GPUs. We got the K6500 in Taiwan which comes with a 3050 and OLED screen (and 12th gen CPU). Not sure when the US will get it. There's faster models but they get really expensive and probably not worth it now that other brands are offering OLEDs.

How are they cooling the i9-12900H with this small a footprint?

This will likely be throttled all the time with very little benefit from the CPU horsepower it packs.

These have been around South East Asia for a while. They aren't exactly pretty, the black and white screen on the front is pretty useless too. Basically you are paying a hefty premium over the same Zenbook for that design.

I really like the design! Not enough to drop $1600 on it though.

Thanks bro. Btw I thought Zenbooks are Assus's more premium lineup over the Vivobooks? How come that one has dgpu and this doesn't? And at 1.4kg it's not like this laptop is particularly ultralight either so I'm not sure what target audience this laptop is going after.

Zenbooks are supposed to be the more premium but there's a wide range of Vivobooks and our Vivobook Pro seems comparable to the Zenbook 14 OLED we have (which died after just 9 months).

I think the Zenbooks don't have dgpu just cause they're 14". The dgpus are in the 15"+ Vivobooks.
